Journey to the Desertas Islands with Bonita da Madeira’s captivating ship. Approximately 15 miles southeast of Madeira lie the Desertas Islands, a cluster of uninhabited islands that form a natural reserve. These islands serve as a sanctuary for the rare Monk seal, scientifically known as Monachus monachus, among the rarest seal species globally. In addition to these charming creatures, a variety of seabirds find refuge in this protected region, making it a birder’s paradise.

The Bonita da Madeira, an impressively sized tall ship spanning 23-meters, serves as the vessel for these seafaring sojourns. This classic ship presents nine cabins, each adorned with private bathrooms to ensure a seamless sailing experience. The ship’s lounge, allows passengers to unwind away from the sun. A kitchen and a minibar ensure that all culinary and refreshment needs are well catered to throughout the voyage.

The deck of the Bonita da Madeira is where you’ll find vast expanses of open space to soak up the sun and breathe in the invigorating sea air. A communal area for meals allows passengers to dine whilst surrounded by the stunning beauty of the ocean. Even though the ship is spacious, it is designed to carry a maximum of 50 passengers to maintain an intimate and personalized cruising experience.

Upon arrival at Doca, a petite bay at the Desertas Islands, renowned for its crystal-clear waters, the Bonita da Madeira drops anchor for approximately 45 minutes. This interlude allows passengers to dive into the pristine waters for a refreshing swim. Following a delicious hot meal, guests are invited to join a guided tour ashore to further explore this untouched paradise.

The meeting point for the VMT Madeira Catamaran Tours is at the new marina in the center of Funchal. You have to meet there 20 minutes before departure.
